In brief: Night Out Against Crime is Tuesday

SPOKANE – National Night Out Against Crime is on Aug. 4 and the Downtown Spokane Partnership is hosting a community event together with COPS and the Spokane Police Department on Wall Street from 4-6 p.m.

Community organizations like Hoopfest, Spokefest and SNAP will be at the celebration.

The Spokane Police Department will hand out Club anti-theft devices for high risk vehicles.

In the West Central neighborhood, National Night Out events will be at A.M. Cannon Park from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be free pizza, cake, face painting, entertainment and games. There will also be a cake walk and raffles.

Valley church offering free lunch

SPOKANE VALLEY – The Spokane Valley Community of Christ is serving lunch for children and adults on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays through Aug. 27.

Lunch will be served at Spokane Valley Community of Christ, 11515 E. Broadway Ave. from noon to 1 p.m. Call: (509) 990-5224. 

Car show benefits transplant patient

NORTH SPOKANE – A car show to benefit Jeanie Buchanan, who is waiting for a kidney transplant, will be Saturday at Morgan Acres Park.

The show will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It’s free to attend, $20 to register a car. Donations will be accepted for Buchanan through the Northwest Kidney Transplant Fund.

ACT 2 classes beginning soon
