Associated Press

QUEBEC CITY – Anthony Cirelli scored off a rebound at 1:28 of overtime to give the Oshawa Generals a 2-1 victory over the Kelowna Rockets on Sunday night in the Memorial Cup final.

The Ontario Hockey League champion Generals won all four of their games in the four-team event. They also won the junior hockey tournament in 1939, 1940, 1944 and 1990.

Cirelli also tied it at 1 in the second period. Ken Appleby made 37 saves, allowing only Tomas Soustal’s first-period goal for Western Hockey League champion Kelowna.

A crowd of 10,391 turned out for the final hockey game at the Pepsi Colisee. The arena will be demolished and replaced by the 18,000-seat Videotron Centre next door.

The 2016 tournament will be played in Red Deer, Alberta.
