An 65-year-old woman is in the hospital this morning after she stepped in front of a slow-moving train in Athol, Idaho. First responders were called to the scene near Meadow Street and Highway 54 shortly after 6 a.m. The woman was pulled from the tracks and airlifted to Kootenai Health. The extent of her injuries was unclear, but they didn’t appear life-threatening, the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office reported. The sheriff’s office said it appeared the woman was crossing the Union Pacific tracks about a quarter mile north of Highway 54 when she was struck. Timberlake Fire Chief Kevin Kleinworth said the woman was found on her back under the fourth car of the train.
