Numerous summer bicycle events set for across the region

June opens the spigot on organized summer bicycling, with roughly 25 events scheduled across the region.

This is Bike to Work Month in Coeur d’Alene and the Skeeter Skoot bicycle poker ride – great for families – is set for Saturday on the Centennial Trail.

Following are details on some of the local events coming up this month.

Skeeter Skoot , Saturday: Pedal 12-22 miles on the Centennial Trail out of Spokane at your own pace, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., to pick up cards at stations for a winning hand for prizes. No preregistration required. Sign up at Gonzaga University Law School lawn, 721 N Cincinnati St., sponsored by Cool Water Bikes. No entry fee. Info: (509) 838-8580

Woodrat 25er , Saturday: Mountain bike ride; choose 25-mile endurance or 12-mile route of intermediate to advanced riding on mix of double-track and single-track riding near Priest Lake. $35-$40.

I Made the Grade , June 13: Based out of Chief Timothy Park near Clarkston, the 35th annual 18-mile ride climbs 2,000 feet up the Lewiston Grade via the Old Spiral Highway. Organized by Clarkston High School Band. $25-40.

Spokane Summer Parkways , June 18: South Hill at Comstock- Manito Neighborhood, 6-9 p.m. Event designed for families to walk or ride streets free of motor vehicles, with games and contests. Free.

CHAFE 150 Gran Fondo , June 20: Ride 30 or 80 miles, or the full 150-mile loop through Cabinet Mountains, timed Gran Fondo, five food stops, from Sandpoint, through Troy and Bonners Ferry and back. Benefits autism programs in local school district, sponsored by Sandpoint Rotary. Team options. $45-$75 (plus $50 pledge requirement).

Ride the Wall , June 21: Celebrate summer equinox in 18th annual 13-mile evening ride along Coeur d’Alene River; start and finish at Mission Inn in Cataldo, followed by barbecue. Benefits Silver Valley Fuller Center for Housing. $30.

Relay for Life Century , June 27: On the Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes, ride 100 miles from Wallace to Harrison and back on flat rail-trail; 50-mile option. Sponsored by Bingham County Idaho Relay For Life for the American Cancer Society. $50 fund-raising minimum.

Silver Valley Ride to Defeat ALS , June 27: Fundraiser ride on the Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes out of Enaville, Idaho, on routes of 27 or 42 miles. Entry $40-80 plus $250 in donations.
