Grand Coulee wrong on pot

The Grand Coulee City Council has once again blocked legal marijuana businesses and has cited federal law as the basis for said decision.

In states such as Washington where marijuana use is legal for adults, federal agencies have been instructed to take investigative action only in marijuana cases where criminal activities that violate one or more of the eight federal mandates are present.

The Grand Coulee City Council needs to wake up to the fact that it is indeed refusing to protect the citizens of their jurisdictions by denying legal marijuana businesses, which leaves the criminal element in control; a very dangerous situation, indeed.

Among other atrocities, the criminal element promotes the selling of marijuana products to children, as evidenced by the rash of recent pot busts of Lake Roosevelt High School students who admitted the intent to sell the marijuana to other students.

Refusing to protect the citizens of their jurisdiction and hiding behind nonexistent federal opposition to legal marijuana businesses is a violation of the Grand Coulee City Council members’ oath of office, and a blatant misrepresentation of federal position on these matters, i.e., treason.
