Area roundup: Eastern hires Chris Victor as assistant men’s basketball coach

Chris Victor, a head men’s basketball coach the last five seasons for Citrus College in Glendora, California, accepted a position as assistant coach at Eastern Washington University, the school announced Monday.

Victor, who led the Owls to 103 victories in his five seasons at Citrus, replaces Alex Pribble, who left earlier this year to become head coach at Saint Martin’s University.

Victor won 73 percent of his games overall (103-39) and 73 percent in the California Community College Athletic Association (44-16).

“We are adding a proven winner to our coaching staff,” EWU coach Jim Hayford said.

Victor spent the previous four seasons as a top assistant at Concordia University, where he helped the school advance to the NAIA championship game in 2003 and 2004.
