State Highway 291 back open after fire contained
Officials have closed state Highway 291 near Ford as a result of a wildfire.
The route is closed between Corkscrew Canyon Road and state Highway 291.
The 31-acre fire near Amy Lane and the highway was reported about 3:30 p.m. It was 100 percent contained by 7:15 p.m., and there were no reports that structures burned, said Department of Natural Resources spokesman Guy Gifford.
The Washington State Patrol reported at 9 p.m. that the highway was back open.

Spot fires jumped the highway, Gifford said, but it was not spreading by 6:30 p.m.
