Auditions

Traditions of Christmas - Seeking children ages 8-12 with strong vocal and dance skills for holiday production. Rehearsals begin in October and are held on Wednesday evenings. Painting with Friends Wine Glass Painting: Paint “a day at the lake” on wine glasses. Cost is $40/person (cash or check) and includes all art supplies (two glasses, paint, brushes, apron), step-by-step instruction, plus heavy appetizers and wine tasting. Lindsey Merrell: Relief Printing: Two Color Linocuts: Merrell will teach students, age 16 to adult, the art of relief printing using a linoleum block to create a two-color print. Session 1: June 23, 30, July 7, 14. Session 2: July 28, August 4, 11, 18. 3-5 p.m. $80 per session. Relief Printing for Cards and Stationary: For students age 13 to adult. Truly customize your correspondence by making your own cards and stationary using the relief method of printmakingJune 26, July 10, August 7, 21. 1-4:30 p.m. $35 for each workshop. Introduction to Relief Printing Workshop: Merrell will teach students, age 16 to adult, the art of relief printmaking through a fun introductory project. June 27, July 18, August 15. 1-5 p.m. $40 for each workshop. Portrait Drawing: Learn about the proportions and anatomy of the human head, then move on to portrait drawing with a live model. For high school-aged and adult artists. June 24, July 1, 8, 15. 10 a.m.-noon. $80 plus $28 model fee. Jery Haworth: Creating with Charcoal: Create shape, form and movement in your art. Individual style and content will be encouraged. For teen and adult students. June 26, July 3, 10, 17, 24, 31. 10 a.m.-noon. $120. Painting in Oil: This class will help students better understand the process of painting with oils and the various mediums used to thin or thicken, speed drying time and preserve the painting. For teen and adult students. June 26, July 3, 10, 17, 24, 31. 12:30-2:30 p.m. $120. Drawing/Painting from a Photograph: This class uses photos as a starting point to create interpretive images. Students will avoid “copying” the photo, but learn to “bend the rules” to enhance the image and capture their vision. For teen and adult students. June 26, July 3, 10, 17, 24, 31. 3-5 p.m. $120.

Artisans at Dahmen BarnLearn to Paint like a Master: Participants will paint in the style of one of the great masters. Artist Laurel Macdonald will lead the series on the last Thursday of each month. Participants can be beginners or at any level of experience. June 25, 6-9 p.m. $39, includes prepared canvas, paint, tools, one beverage and snacks. Artisans at Dahmen Barn, 419 N. Park Way, Uniontown. (509) 299-3414. Make a Father’s Day Portrait: Instructor Danica Wixom will help kids ages 8 to 12 make a 5-by-7 inch framed collage portrait to honor who their dad. Students should bring a scanned picture of their dad to use in their collage piece. Registrations are required by Thursday and may be made online at the class’ calendar listing at www.artisanbarn.org or by calling (509) 229-3414. There is a maximum of 8 students for this workshop. Call for artists

Art on the Prairie Juried Art Show Art on the Prairie was created 2014 as a venue for local artists and hand-crafters to showcase and sell their artwork.
