Harassment reports

Rachel Dolezal’s reports of harassment to Coeur d’Alene and Spokane police, obtained through public records requests.

May 19, 2009, malicious harassment (Spokane): Report that someone wrote “NIGER” in chalk in the street in front of a house she was living in at the time.

Sept. 21, 2009, malicious harassment (Spokane): Reported finding a rope made into a noose on her front porch.

Nov. 19, 2009, malicious harassment (CdA): Report of a swastika sticker affixed to the front door of the Human Rights Education Institute. Surveillance video equipment at the institute was not recording at the time.

May 12, 2010, phone harassment (CdA): Report of a phone call leaving a threatening message that Dolezal told police she believed was racially motivated.

June 15, 2010, malicious harassment (CdA): Report of a rope hanging off a rafter of a storage shed at Dolezal’s home. Her landlord later told police that he was nearly certain he had hung the rope in the shed to hold a deer carcass, but that he didn’t tell Dolezal that until “around” the time she called police to report it.

Feb. 25, 2015, malicious harassment (Spokane): Report of a threatening letter sent to Dolezal at the NAACP’s post office box. Police interviewed postal workers and concluded that it’s unlikely an uncanceled letter could have been deposited into the box without a key but didn’t conclude how that might have happened.
