The Dirt: Rosauers remodeling 14th Avenue store

Rosauers is remodeling its South Hill store at 14th Avenue and Lincoln Street.

The $3 million project at 907 W. 14th Ave. will upgrade the nearly 28,000-square-foot interior, plus add 300 square feet for a lobby entrance. The store opened in 1962 and had its last major update in 1990.

Jeff Philipps, Rosauers president and CEO, said the store’s interior will be completely remodeled with new flooring and fixtures, refrigerated and frozen food cases, and decor.

Also, a fresh produce section will be expanded. The meat department, bakery and deli will be relocated and expanded, and construction will add a seating area near the deli.

Contractors Northwest Inc. of Coeur d’Alene started the project around mid-May. Work is expected to continue through year-end mainly at night to keep the store open during regular hours.

At its 29th Avenue store, Rosauers also started a small remodel to expand its Huckleberry section and create a bigger lobby, Philipps said. That work is expected to wrap up by early August.

His office will occupy about half the lot, which is just over an acre, and Coulter said the remaining land is available to another business potentially for lease.
