Two men injured in accidents Monday

From staff reports
Two accidents on Monday afternoon sent two men to Spokane hospitals. In the first, two vehicles traveling eastbound on Interstate 90, near Ritzville, collided around 4 p.m. One of the drivers, Qicai Hou, from Madison, Wis., was taken to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center, the WSP said. However, a spokesperson at the hospital said they had no information on a patient with that name. The WSP said Alex Brazil of Yelm, Wash., attempted to pass a vehicle driven by Hou. As Brazil attempted to pass, he hit the rear of Hou’s vehicle. Brazil’s car, a Hyundai Tiburon, went off the road and rolled, while Hou’s Lexus GX470 spun out of control and left the road. The WSP attributed the crash to speed and bad passing, likely induced by alcohol or drugs. Both drivers were wearing seat belts. The WSP said Brazil will be charged with vehicular assault. The second crash occurred shortly before 6 p.m. on state Highway 291 about 20 miles north of Spokane. William Moberly, 68, of Spokane, was headed south when he lost control of his BMW motorcycle on a curve. He was taken to Holy Family Hospital where he was listed in satisfactory condition. The WSP said Moberly was going too fast. He was wearing a helmet.
