Novelist Bill Percy to read at Auntie’s

Bill Percy , a Hope, Idaho, writer and author of the novel “Climbing the Coliseum,” will be at Auntie’s in Spokane next week to read from and sign his book.

The novel, which Percy self-published through Xlibris, is a finalist in the general fiction category for the Review Forward INDIFAB book awards. The awards honor books that are self-published or published through small or university presses.

“Climbing the Coliseum” is the story of a depressed psychologist who must care for a rebellious teenage girl while helping police with a case against a racist group in Montana.

Ryan Nicodemus of The Minimalists will host an evening of “word tasting: readings, stories, live music, questions and answers” at the downtown book store.

The Minimalists – Nicodemus and Joshua Fields Millburn – live in Missoula and write extensively about clearing the clutter from modern lives to allow for more time and more experiences. On the Word Tasting Tour, they’ve teamed up with authors Colin Wright, Josh Wagner and Skye Steele to present a “meaningful experience” that includes minimalism, travel, storytelling and humor.

Auntie’s, Part III

Laura Pritchett , author of the novel “Stars Go Blue,” will be in the region this week to read from her latest book.

The novel, set in her home state of Colorado, continues the story of Renny and Ben Cross, two ranchers whose tales she first relayed in her linked story collection, “Hell’s Bottom, Colorado.” The 2001 effort won the Milkweed National Fiction Prize.
