Cruz pops back into M’s lineup, DH spot

Bob Dutton Tacoma News Tribune

SEATTLE – Nelson Cruz returned Tuesday to the Seattle Mariners’ lineup after suffering some sort of pelvic dislocation in Monday’s loss to Kansas City.

The Mariners remain a little fuzzy with the details.

Even Cruz noted, “I don’t really know. I thought it was my hamstring at first, but they figured out later that it was my pelvis that was out of place.

“They laid me down and just popped it in. I don’t feel it at all now. I feel good. Thank God, it was something that could be fixed right away.”

While Cruz returned to the lineup, he did so as the designated hitter and is unlikely to play in the outfield for at least a few days.

Edgar’s priority

McClendon identified struggling Mike Zunino as a priority for new hitting coach Edgar Martinez. “I think that’s something he wants to do,” McClendon said. “In the end, my hope is he does have a major influence on Zunino and does … and we can get him back to being something close to what he was last year.”
