City officials disappoint

Regarding “Oversight panel criticized” (June 18): Reading the article of the allegations leveled against Rachel Dolezal, Adrian Dominguez and Kevin Berkompas, I found myself feeling very much disappointed and yes, even discouraged, with Mayor David Condon and Spokane City Council members’ statements. I found myself reflecting back to a very personal and bitter experience with regard to this sort of rhetoric.

At this point the allegations are apparently unsupported as far as facts are concerned, and the fact that the three who are accused of wrongdoing have not been given an opportunity to know exactly what they are accused of certainly smells like yesterday’s fish. We (the citizens of Spokane) can only hope that we are not living in a fairly large city that utilizes small town political tactics to justify actions.

At this point, I stand squarely behind the ousted Oversight Committee members and wish them luck. Unfortunately, too many times those bringing the allegations will claim that their actions involve personnel issues when they ought to be admitting that they really are personal issues.
