Idaho announces new football radio team

KXLY’s Dennis Patchin and former Idaho football standout Ryan Phillips will team up for the radio call of Vandals football, the school and Learfield Sports Idaho Vandals Sports Properties announced on Friday.

Patchin replaces Tom Morris, who called football and basketball for the Vandals for most of the past 30 years. Morris is stepping back to concentrate on his role as general manager for Idaho Vandals Sports Properties.

Phillips was a three-time first-team All-Conference defensive end and 1995 Big Sky defensive player of the year as well as a two-time All-American. Phillips played five years in the NFL.

Track and field

Former Washington State standout Blessing Ufodiama finished ninth in the women’s triple jump on Friday at USATF Championships in Eugene.

Fourth last year in the same meet, Ufodiama’s best jump Friday was 43 feet, 5 ¼ inches. Her personal best is 44-2 1/2.
