Don’t blame Republicans

I’m confused. What did I miss? According to Sally Jackson (June 18), the current increase in health insurance premiums is due to the Republicans not allowing a single-payer system to be written into law. My recollection is that the Affordable Care Act was passed by a Democrat-controlled House, Senate and presidency.

The Democrats had complete control. There was no Republican support required to pass the ACA, and none was asked for. In fact, the Democrats had such a lock on control that they could have done anything they wanted, like a single-payer system or immigration reform. But they did not do either.
