Tuesday: Idaho coach Don Verlin met with the media on Tuesday afternoon for the first time since his binder-throwing and shouting incident with assistant coach Chris Helbling last Thursday.

In a university press release, Verlin apologized for his actions and accepted disciplinary action.

The seventh-year Idaho coach offered no further comment on the incident this afternoon.

“Made a statement yesterday and that’s the statement I’m sticking by. What we’re going to do as a basketball program is move forward,” Verlin said.

When asked if he had no comment on Helbling’s role in the incident, Verlin responded “That’s correct.”

Friday: Guessing some folks out there immediately thought of the so-called SI cover jinx when Kyle Wiltjer, who was on the regional cover this week, finished with just five points. Wiltjer, who has been in double figures in six straight games and 11 of the last 12, obviously didn’t have his best night but he only took five shots.
