Dave fell in love with the girl next door, but postponed their marriage until his brother Dan returned from Vietnam.

They were finally wed in 1968 at St. Francis of Assisi and settled across the street from St. Thomas More Parish.

Their three children were born between 1969 and 1972.

He worked 40 years in the auto and truck parts industry for NAPA, Motor Parts and Machine, and retired from Six States Distributors in 2004.

Dave was man of great faith, a gift he attributes to his parents.

He attended Mass daily with his wife as a member of St. Thomas More Parish.

He belonged to the Knights of Columbus and St. Vincent DePaul where he made many wonderful friends.

Dave’s dream was fulfilled when he watched his son, David’s, ordination to the diaconate at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome October 2008, followed by his ordination to the Priesthood at Our Lady of Lourdes Cathedral in Spokane, June 2009.

Dave devoted much of his life to helping the needy, with his wife Bernadine and the Catholic Daughters they supported the construction of Little Angels Home Orphanage Elementary School, St. Boniface, in Tanzania East Africa and sponsoring the education of a high school student.

Dave was happiest giving his time and talents.

He loved fine woodworking and carpentry was a skill he shared with son, Kevin, and father in law, Bernard Murphy.

Dave was most proud of the furniture he built for the altar at St. Thomas More.

His greatest joy’s were adventures with his family in the outdoors.

It started with Bernadine, camping at Lake Louise on their honeymoon.

Family vacations were spent camping, hiking, and fishing in the Northwest.

It continued on high mountain backpacking trips with his daughter Katie, and ended on long summer days swimming with grandchildren at the cabin he helped his father build on Loon Lake.

Dave lived his life always looking forward on the positive and only remembering the joy when he looked back.

We thank God for him; he will always be present with us, especially when we repeat his favorite meal time prayer “Thanks God for Family!”
