Liberty Lake police blotter: Trio sleeping in car end up arrested

A trio spotted sleeping in a car in a parking lot in Liberty Lake were arrested on various charges.

Someone called Liberty Lake Police just before 7:30 a.m. on Feb. 24 to report seeing a running car with three sleeping people inside in the 1200 block of North Liberty Lake Road. The three had been there for at least an hour and the caller reported being concerned about carbon monoxide poisoning.

An officer found the three in good health. They reportedly told the officer that they had gone there to buy donuts but had fallen asleep. One man was wanted on a warrant and was also in possession of a flare gun loaded with a 12-gauge shell full of rock salt. He was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

A woman in the car was arrested on possession of a controlled substance (oxycodone) and a second man was arrested on possession of drug paraphernalia.

Other calls from Feb. 23 to March 2:

Feb. 23: A man was arrested for theft in the 1200 block of North Liberty Lake Road after he was found eating a rice bowl stolen from a grocery store.

Feb. 24: A woman arrested for driving under the influence on East Spotted Owl was also cited for three counts of reckless endangerment after three children were found in her car.

Feb. 28: A vehicle prowl with nothing missing was reported in the 19000 block of East Deschutes Avenue. Another vehicle prowl was reported in the 1600 block of North Aladdin Road. The resident said his garage door was accidentally left open and $80 worth of items were removed from two cars parked inside.

March 1: Officers assisted Sheriff’s deputies with a stolen car found in the 4600 block of North Harvard Road just minutes after its owner reported it stolen. A female passenger was arrested and the male driver was arrested after he was found hiding in some bushes nearby a short time later.

Arrests: Police made three arrests for driving with a suspended license.

Citations: Officers handed out citations for failure to show proof of liability insurance, defective muffler, following too closely, failure to yield right of way and speeding.
