Okanogan 72, Auburn Adventist 67

The momentum was up for grabs, and Jim Townsend and the Okanogan Bulldogs claimed it.

After a back-and-forth first half, Okanogan opened the third quarter on a 17-2 run and fended off Auburn Adventist’s late charge in a 1B consolation victory.

Townsend poured in 30 points on 13-of-18 shooting and added 11 rebounds. Mayson Guerrette added 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting for the Bulldogs, who outscored the Falcons 26-8 in the third.

The Falcons staged an fourth-quarter rally to make things interesting. Charlie Fletcher hit a 3-pointer with 2:02 left in the fourth to bring Auburn Adventist within five points, and hit again from long range with 32.7 seconds left to cut the lead to three, but the Falcons ran out of gas.

In its attempt to get back into the game, Auburn Adventist hoisted 29 second-half 3-pointers, connecting on nine.

Life Christian fended off Walla Walla Valley Academy’s spirited fourth-quarter charge to stay alive in the tournament.

Andy Comfort scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds and Luke Lovelady added 14 points and nine rebounds for Life Christian, which will play Okanogan in today’sfourth-sixth place game.

The Knights didn’t go away quietly. Zayne Browning hit three consecutive 3-pointers midway through the fourth and Caleb King made a layup with 1:13 left that wiped away the Eagles’ 12-point lead.

WWVA had the ball late, trailing by one, with a chance to win. A loose ball gave the ball to Life Christian with six seconds left. Comfort made a pair of free throws to put Life Christian ahead 49-46. WWVA’s Cameron Fitzgerald had a chance at the buzzer, but his long-rang 3-pointer was well short.

Zach Walton had 21 points and 10 rebounds, and unbeaten Morton-White Pass built a big lead then held on against Northwest Christian to return to the championship game.

Walton’s three in the second quarter keyed a 7-0 Timberwolves run as MWP led 24-16 at the break.

David Olds tried to keep the Crusaders in the game with three third-quarter treys, but the Timberwolves went on an 11-1 run spanning the third and fourth quarters.

Liberty 55, Brewster 52

Match Burnham came up big down down the stretch to propel Liberty into the title game as the Lancers edged Brewster.

Burnham finished with 29 points and 10 rebounds.

Liberty took the lead for good on Clay Fleming’s two free throws with six minutes left, and Burnham took over from there. He scored the final 15 points of the game for the Lancers, as he made 11 of 12 from the free-throw line in the fourth. His putback with under a minute left gave Liberty a 52-48 lead. He added another pair of free throws, then made 1 of 2 with 3.5 seconds left. He followed that up by blocking Timbo Taylor’s 3-point attempt at the buzzer.

Kyle King had 11 points and five assists for Liberty.
