Ruby Suites, new retail space about to open

Topping it off: Traffic rolls by on Division Street on Thursday while the new rooftop sign is lifted into position on the old Burgan’s Furniture building at Boone Avenue. Jerry Dicker, owner of Hotel Ruby, and Mauer Construction have transformed the venerable furniture store building and the warehouse to the south into an extended-stay luxury hotel on the second and third floors, with retail and restaurants on the ground floor. The block also has 150 onsite parking places on the eastern half of the block. Many of the rooms are complete and the hotel will open sometime in April, Dicker said. He said the ground floor retail spaces will likely open in May. (Jesse Tinsley)
