Area roundup: Shock assigned DB Andre Jones

The Spokane Shock have been assigned defensive back Andre Jones for the upcoming season, it was announced Wednesday.

Jones has played in the AFL for the past four years. He played for the L.A. Kiss and Pittsburgh Power last season.

Hoopfest

Registration is now open for the 26th version of Hoopfest, which takes place June 27-28 in downtown Spokane.

Entry forms are available online at register.spokanehoopfest.net and in hardcopy at any Bruchi’s Cheesesteaks and Subs or Yoke’s Fresh Market Northwest locations.

Hoopfest can guarantee each team a spot in the tournament if registered by May 11.

Swimming

Whitworth’s Wes Walton placed 32nd in the men’s 200-yard medley and teammate Wes Tatum finished 53rd in the men’s 50 freestyle at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships in Shenendoah, Texas.
