Ease off on traffic issues

I have to take issue with David Vogel’s March 14 letter. He wanted to know why the police were not spending more time on traffic issues.

Goodness, I hope not. I would like to hope that all these new police officers are doing what the citizens here probably want, and that is to chase down the bad guys.

As long as there is a burglary not being investigated, an assault not being worked on or a home break-in not being taken seriously, I would prefer that there not be any covert squad cars hassling citizens going about their daily business.

We pay the police to primarily keep us safe in our homes, and only secondarily to prevent bodies from being scraped off the streets. That’s why they carry guns.
