Corden takes reins for ‘Late Late Show’

Tribune News Service

Don’t miss

“The Late Late Show With James Corden”: We really don’t know what to expect from Corden, a U.K. native who takes over for Craig Ferguson. But “warmth” is what he’s striving for. “So much of what you see and read is not pleasant right now,” he says. “I (want) a show that reaches out to people and reminds them that there are still wonderful things. I’d love to make a warm, really funny show.” His Week 1 guest list includes Tom Hanks, Kerry Washington, Kevin Hart and Will Ferrell. 12:37 a.m. Monday, CBS.

Other bets

SUNDAY: After a two-year break, the compelling reality series “Intervention” returns to help addicts and alcoholics battle their inner demons. The opener focuses on a successful dancer plagued by a dependence on cocaine and heroin. 9 p.m., A&E.

MONDAY: The ominous-sounding “knockout rounds” begin tonight on “The Voice,” but rest assured that no blood will be shed – unless, of course, Adam and Blake decide to throw down. 8 p.m., NBC.

TUESDAY: “Surviving Marriage” is a blend of “Survivor” and couples therapy. It’s a bizarre reality series that sends troubled couples to a South Pacific island for five days to try and rectify their marital problems. 10 p.m., A&E.

WEDNESDAY: “Big Time in Hollywood, FL” is a new comedy about slacker brothers and wannabe filmmakers (Alex Anfanger and Lenny Jacobson) who learn that their parents are planning to boot them out of the house. 10:30 p.m., Comedy Central.

WEDNESDAY: “Dean Smith” is a fitting piece of programming during NCAA tourney time. It’s a fond look back at the life and legacy of the legendary University of North Carolina basketball coach, who died last month. 9 p.m., Showtime.

THURSDAY: “Bones” returns from its hiatus with another grisly case: The body of a psychic is found rotting in the trunk of a tree. Naturally, Brennan and Booth turn to medium Avalon Harmonia (Cyndi Lauper) for help. 8 p.m., Fox.

FRIDAY: In the Season 4 finale of “Hart of Dixie,” Zoe makes a life-altering decision. 8 p.m., The CW.

SATURDAY: Bust out the green slime. The 2015 Kids’ Choice Awards features performances by 5 Seconds of Summer and Iggy Azalea, prompting parents across the nation to wonder: What’s an Iggy Azalea? 8 p.m., Nickelodeon.
