Obituary: St. Marie, Mary Alice (Shoeman)

Age 78

ST. MARIE, Mary Alice (Shoeman) Passed away peacefully on March 24, 2015 at home, surrounded by family.

Mary was born in Spokane to Dorothy and Frank Parsons on August 11, 1936.

She grew up in a small house in Northeast Spokane with her adoptive father Oscar Shoeman and mother Dorothy.

Mary graduated from Rogers High School and shortly thereafter found the love of her life John (Johnny) St. Marie Jr.

They were married and had four children.

Mary’s real joy in life was being a mom.

Mary was mom not only to her own children but also to neighborhood kids, and to all the friends of her own children.

That’s why everyone ended up at the St. Marie house.

Later she relished in, and took great pride in being a grandmother and great-grandmother.

Mary worked in the market research business and eventually owned her own market research company.

Many new un-tested grocery items were introduced in your local stores by Mary.

She could be very persuasive as hundreds of current and former grocery store managers can attest to.

She was an avid Seahawk and Mariners fan and loved sitting at the kitchen table rooting them on.

She loved gambling at the casino and especially loved yelling BINGO!

So very witty, encouraging, intelligent, trustworthy, funny and incredibly special, Mary will forever be missed and remembered by all who knew her.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, sister and husband John St. Marie Jr. She is survived by her children: Matt St. Marie (wife Cindy), Mark St. Marie (wife Tina), John St. Marie III (wife Tanna) and Kathy Bucholz (husband Greg) all of Spokane.

Also by her grandchildren: Sean St. Marie, Jackie Smith, Josh Smith, Drew St. Marie, Joel St. Marie, and Briana Green; great-grandchildren: MiaBella, Camron, Hale, Emberly, Sidney, Shiloh and Lola; nephew Dennis Welsh of Vader, WA; sister in law Toni St. Marie and niece Lori (St. Marie) Reillo of Spokane.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Spokane.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 27 at 10am and will be conducted at Holy Cross Cemetery and Funeral Center Chapel, 7200 N. Wall St., Spokane with visitation beginning at 9am.
