Obituary: Martin, George Hugh, Sr. “Hoodie”

Age 96

MARTIN, George Hugh, Sr. “Hoodie” (Age 96) Passed away on March 12, 2015 at his son’s home in Moscow, Idaho with he and his wife by his side.

His wife Wilma had passed on one year earlier.

George was born on November 20,1918 on the family farm in Thornton, WA to James and Elizabeth Martin.

He was a great-grandson of the pioneer James (Cashup) Davis who built the famous hotel on Steptoe Butte.

He was an accomplished engineer, receiving his degree at WSC.

Dad enjoyed wild game hunting.

At the age of 94 he shot, skinned and butchered his last deer.

As a talented craftsman he had many skills including rebuilding and remodeling many homes.

His past times included gardening and restoring antique cars.

George and Wilma enjoyed many years of square dancing and traveling throughout the United States.

He is survived by his son Larry (Janet) Martin, Mary A. Johnson, George H., Jr. (Linda) Martin, Yvonne (Gene) Teigen, James R., Sr. (Kris) Martin and many grandchildren.

We all looked forward to Dad’s many stories he would tell of his 96 years experience being on this earth.

He was peaceful and happy to be reunited with his best friend and wife, Wilma.

Graveside services will be held at the Steptoe Bethel Cemetery at a later date.
