Obituary: Tavares, Anna Lee “Kelly”

Age 88

TAVARES, Anna Lee (Kelly) (Age 88) Anna Lee Kelly Tavares was born in Sprague, WA on April 24, 1926, to Robert and Gussie Kelly.

Anna grew up in Colfax, WA with her brother Robert “Bob” and sister Charlotte.

Anna was ‘Yell Leader’ at Colfax High School for three years.

During World War II, she was the secretary for the Colfax Red Cross.

After the war ended, she met and married Frank Russell Tavares.

They moved to Spokane where they raised their three children, Frank “Rusty” Tavares, Sandra Lee (Tavares) Daugherty and Kelly Ann (Tavares) Jones.

Anna and Frank were active with the Spokane Mountaineer’s, Square Dancing and Scouting.

In later years Anna worked for the Woman’s Corner, Lubin’s Clothing Store and the Head Start Program.

After her last knee replacement she retired to enjoy travel, her garden and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Anna passed away March 27, 2015.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm, Wednesday April 1, 2015, in the Sunset Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park, 5000 W. Wellesley, Spokane, WA 99208.

Contributions to the American Red Cross can be made in lieu of flowers.

We will all miss Anna greatly.
