Retired Former U.S. Open champion Michael Campbell says he has lost the motivation to play top-level golf and is quitting to concentrate on teaching. The 46-year-old New Zealander, who won the Open at Pinehurst in 2005, runs a golf academy in Spain. He hopes to play in senior tournaments when he becomes eligible in four years.

Pondering Red Wings coach Mike Babcock says he’s not rushing into any decisions about his future. Babcock, whose contract is expiring, expects to meet with Red Wings general manager Ken Holland at some point in the next 10 days to talk things over.

Earned Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard received his degree from Weber State three years after entering the NBA. The two-time All-Star earned a professional sales degree from the College of Applied Science & Technology.

Undecided Grizzlies point guard Mike Conley will travel with the team for its first two games of the Western Conference semifinals against the Golden State Warriors, but his status for the series is uncertain. Conley sustained multiple facial fractures in the first round against Portland. He was elbowed by CJ McCollum in Game 3 and had surgery Monday.

Completed Mavericks forward Chandler Parsons has undergone knee surgery, and there is no timetable for his return. Parsons had cartilage damage in his right knee. He averaged 15.7 points and 4.9 rebounds in 66 games.

Presented Former Florida coach Billy Donovan was introduced as Oklahoma City’s new coach. Donovan says he hopes to build on what Scott Brooks accomplished the previous seven years. Donovan led Florida to two national championships, four Final Fours and seven Elite Eights in 19 seasons.

Dismissed Tuscaloosa police dropped domestic violence charges against Alabama cornerback Cyrus Jones. Police said the charges were dropped because Jones “in fact attempted to deescalate the situation by contacting the Tuscaloosa Police Department.” Jones was charged Tuesday night with two domestic violence misdemeanors.

Awarded Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers has been voted the NBA’s executive of the year after assembling a roster that won a franchise-best 67 games. Myers received 13 first-place votes and 82 total points from a panel of fellow league executives.
