Obituary: Pankey, Mary Leonora “Marilee”

Age 84

PANKEY, Mary Leonora “Marilee” In Memory of Mary L. “Marilee” Pankey May 2, 1931 - April 27, 2015 Passed away April 27, 2015 in Tucson, Arizona.

She was born on May 2, 1931 in Spokane to James and Mayme Maclin.

The Maclin family moved to Davenport in 1940 to operate the Red and White Grocery Store.

Marilee had fond memories of working in the family store with her parents.

She attended school in Davenport where she met her high school sweetheart, Russ Pankey.

After graduating in 1949, she was married to Russ on July 29, 1950 in the First Presbyterian Church of Davenport with Rev.

Norm Tully officiating.

Marilee and Russ had three children, Candace, James and Rodney.

After several moves in the area, the family settled in Davenport in 1963 on the family farm north of town.

Marilee enjoyed working at the ASCS office for many years assisting area farmers with farm program administration.

After retiring in 1991, Marilee and Russ enjoyed traveling in their RV and golfing with their many friends.

In her later years, Marilee lived in Tucson, AZ during the winter months, where she enjoyed meeting new friends and spending time with family.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Russ.

She is survived by her three children, Candace (Dan) Davis, Jim (Lynn) Pankey, and Rod (Penny) Pankey; sister, Jan (Daryl) Ziemer; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be May 13, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Davenport Presbyterian Church, Pastor Ted Broadway officiating.
