Obituary: Thorstenson, Irene May

Age 92

THORSTENSON, Irene May Passed away on April 27, 2015.

Irene was born on March 11, 1923 to Christian and Severine Ibsen in Dagmar, MT.

She attended school in Montana and graduated from Medicine Lake High School.

She married William Thorstenson in 1942 and they had two children, William and Kathleen.

She traveled the United States with Bill and loved every Air Force assignment being stationed in CO, AK, WA, MA, AL, ME, NC, NH, and GA.

When Bill retired they settled in Chattaroy, WA.

They were married 50 years.

Irene was an excellent homemaker and had the ability to make everyone feel special and welcome.

She made the best bread and pies.

She wrote poetry, read a lot, and worked a daily crossword puzzle in ink.

She wrote the following: “Family and Friends, a journey begun with my birth has now ended.

I have taken my final walk and as I walked through the pages of time, I recalled your contributions to the richness of my life.

One cannot fully express thanks to a dutiful daughter, Kathleen, exemplary son-in-law William and thoughtful grandchildren William, Christopher (Erika), Steven (Katherine), Colleen (Philip), and great-grandchildren Austin, Tyler, Jenna, Evelyne, Gabriella, and Vera.

Had I scripted my life I would not have been predeceased by husband William and son William, Jr. And so amid jumbled thoughts I am privileged to conclude gratefully my final Amen.”

Irene was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and a member of Holy Cross Lutheran.

Her memorial service will be held at a future date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Spokane, WA.
