Obituary: Comin, Ruth Alderfer

Age 100

COMIN, Ruth Alderfer October 12, 1914- May 2, 2015 Our beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grand-mother and great-grand-mother went home to her Lord on May 2, 2015.

Ruth Alderfer Comin was born October 12, 1914 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Edith Louella and Benjamin Franklin Alderfer.

The family, which included two brothers and one sister, moved to Portland Oregon when Ruth was about ten years old and she graduated from Jefferson High School there.

In 1932 she met Myron (Mike) Comin at a church camp and they were married on November 26, 1936.

In 1941 they moved to Spokane where they raised their three children.

Ruth worked as pastor’s secretary/office manager at First Presbyterian church from 1955-1975, served as an elder and was a member for 65 years.

After she and Mike retired, they enjoyed traveling in their motorhome, visiting relatives and friends across the United States and also took trips with friends to Germany and Thailand.

After Mike’s death, Ruth continued to travel with family.

Ruth was preceded in death by Mike, her husband of 55 years, and her son Michael.

She is survived by daughters Linda (Carl) Schleer, Jeanne (Allan) Grant, daughter-in-law Dona Comin, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Ruth loved to garden and she will be lovingly remembered every time we look at a rose.

Memorial service will be held on Monday, May 11th at 1:00PM at First Presbyterian Church, Spokane.
