Obituary: Schovaers, Colleen Sue

Age 70

SCHOVAERS, Colleen Sue (Age 70) Known to the many who love her as Sue, Grandma Sue, Mom or “Moochie”, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2015.

She was born April 24, 1945, in Bloomington, Illinois to Ralph and Marjorie Bond.

She was one of four children with two sisters, Pat and Dixie and a brother David, who are all now deceased.

Her early life was marked by tragedy with the loss of her beloved stepfather, Alder, to a sudden heart attack, and her sister, Dixie, who succumbed to the debilitating effects of cancer.

Those experiences taught her how fragile life is and how precious the time is with those she loved.

She graduated from Marian Heights High School in 1962, and married the love of her life, Gary Schovaers, that same year.

In their 53 years of marriage, she gave birth to three children, daughters Connie Berland (Rod), Debbie Mc Garvey and son Steven Schovaers.

She loved them unconditionally and raised them knowing that their mother loved them always, no matter what and she was always there for them.

She is also survived by the grandchildren Jessi, Curtis, Kylor, Kamara, Amber, and Aleena, and her great-grandchildren, all of whom experienced her great love and kindness.

During her 53 years of marriage, besides being a great home-maker, she worked outside the home at Superfair in California to help support her family and help her husband get through college.

She worked at K-Mart in Spokane for many years, and owned and operated a deli in the Shadle Shopping Center.

In her later years, she worked with her daughter Connie in her daughter’s day care.

In each of these places, she made friends that lasted a lifetime.

At the day care, the children loved her and called her “Grandma Sue”.

Sue, your husband Gary will always love you and thanks you for allowing him to be so lucky to have a perfect mate and partner like you.

Your children will always love you and thank you for being the greatest mother anyone could have and your grandchildren and great-grandchildren love you and thank you for being the best grandmother ever.

Your friends thank you for giving them the pleasure of knowing you and the kindness you always afforded them.

Through all of this, Sue suffered unimaginable pain and suffering with Rheumatoid Arthritis and other debilitating conditions which she never let interfere with her love and support of her family and friends.

Sue, we hope you are free from all the pain now and can rest in peace.

You left a huge contribution in this world which will last for many generations to come.

Visitation will be 8AM-5PM Thursday and Friday at Heritage and her Funeral Service 2PM, Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Heritage Chapel.
