Obituary: Yoder, Elton M.

Age 92

YODER, Elton M. (Age 92) Elton passed away on April 20, 2015 in Spokane, WA with his family at his side.

He is now rejoined with his wife Gloria of 57 years that he loved so much, he lost her in 2000.

Elton was born in Akron, NY on December 27th, 1922.

He was the oldest of two boys born to David and Cora Yoder.

It was in New York that he met Gloria, they were married in 1943, the same year that he joined the Army Air Corps.

He stayed with the Air Corps for eight years.

He and Gloria ended up in sunny California by the end of his military service, this is where he started his career as a machinist.

In 1959, the family moved to Seattle, WA, and in 1985 he settled in Spokane, WA.

Elton worked as a machinist until he retired, then he started up his small business as a handyman.

Elton loved helping people with their small jobs and repairs, it kept him busy and young.

He also made many friends through his work.

Elton is survived by his brother, Robert Yoder, San Francisco, CA; son Ralph Yoder, Spokane, WA, son Dale Yoder, Seattle, WA; daughter Pamela Barnes (Dennis), Spokane, WA; three grandchildren, Theresa Yoder, Seattle, WA, Jeremy Barnes (Stacy), Spokane, WA and Keith Barnes, Spokane, WA, two great-grandchildren, Gloria Forgey and Camden Barnes.

There will be a graveside service for family and friends on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Moran Prairie Cemetery, with Pastor Bob Smith officiating.
