Ono cups highlight tragic historic dates

From Wire Reports

Yoko Ono is expressing herself through espresso cups.

The artist and widow of John Lennon has designed a collection of cups and saucers featuring the dates and places of six tragic events written in Ono’s handwriting, such as the atomic bombing of Hiroshima in 1945 and the day Lennon was shot and killed in 1980. A seventh cup appears untouched to represent hope.

The collection is titled “Yoko Ono: Mended Cups – illy Art Collection” and is inspired by Kintsugi, the Japanese technique of repairing cracked pottery with brushstrokes of gold.

The line is being released alongside Ono’s upcoming show at the Museum of Modern Art.

Royals bound for country home

Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge have packed up their newborn princess and their 21-month-old son Prince George for a stay at their country home.

Kensington Palace officials said Wednesday the family is headed to Anmer Hall, their restored country mansion on Queen Elizabeth II’s Sandringham estate. They are expected to stay there for several weeks as they get used to taking care of a toddler and an infant.

Princess Charlotte was born four days ago. She has already met close family members including her great-grandmother, the queen.

William is on paternity leave from his new job as an air ambulance pilot.

Lambert will be magazine’s first

Country Living’s choice for the first person ever to be on the cover of the magazine is apropos: Miranda Lambert. The country superstar is featured on the cover of the June issue and also is the guest editor for the publication.

The home and lifestyle magazine says it has never featured a person on its cover in its 36-year history. The issue explores how country music influences country style.

Lambert also talks about her husband Blake Shelton’s green thumb; he plans to plant tomatoes and strawberries, and they plan to make jam.

Drummer expecting baby mid-tour

The Neon Trees will have a slightly bigger presence on stage this summer – their drummer, Elaine Bradley, is pregnant.

She and husband Sebastian Bradley are expecting their third child, a daughter, in September. They have a 2-year-old son and a 1-year-old daughter.

The baby will be born shortly after the Trees go on tour this summer: The band, which released the single “Songs I Can’t Listen To” on Tuesday, is embarking on a two-month tour. A rep for the quintet says Bradley will be behind the drums for the cross-country tour, which begins in Seattle in June and ends in Boston in July.
