Theia, the Moses Lake dog who rose from the grave after she was run over by a truck, beaten and buried alive, has found her permanent home. The 1-year-old bully breed mix will be staying with Sara Mellado, the woman who took Theia in and raised money to treat her injuries. Mellado has been fostering Theia since mid-February, and raised more than $28,000 in an online fundraiser to pay for the dog’s surgery at WSU’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital. On Wednesday night, she said on Theia’s Facebook page that she’d be adopting the dog permanently. Theia received surgery to repair crushed nasal passages in late April and will return to WSU for a CT scan and follow-up care. Mellado posts updates about her condition at facebook.com/TheiasSecondChance.
