2: Spokane Symphony Classics 10:

Spokane resident Patricia Bartell, an internationally known accordion player, will perform Ástor Pantaleón Piazzolla’s tango-infused Bandoneón Concerto  with the Spokane Symphony. The orchestra also will tackle Frank Zappa’s “Dupree’s Paradise” and Camille Saint-Saens’ Symphony No. 3, with organ soloist John Bodinger.

3: The Best of Seattle Shorts Film Festival

Started in 2011, the festival has showcased more than 80 short films. Tonight, the top 10 short films from the past four years come to Spokane. Directors Misha Jakupcak (“The Hero Pose”) and Kendra Ann (“Serenade”) will attend, accompanied by their films. Other films are: “Curfew,” “The Wheel,” “Do I Take Care of Everything?,” “No One Knows,” “Trixie’s Score,” “The Father,” “88 Miles to Moscow” and “Water, Ice, Snow.”

4: Spokane Jazz Orchestra

6: Cokie Roberts

In honor of Spokane Public Radio’s 35th Anniversary, NPR senior analyst and best-selling author will talk about current affairs and her new book, “Capital Dames,” exploring the lives of women in Washington D.C. during the Civil War. This April marks 150 years since the Civil War ended. The evening is hosted by SPR Program Director Verne Windham. Auntie’s Bookstore will coordinate a book signing and sales of Roberts’ new release. All proceeds benefit SPR.

7: Junior Lilac Parade

64th annual event and largest children’s parade in the nation, hosted by the Rotaract Club of Spokane. The parade, with the theme “Dancing in the Street,” doubles as a competition for more than 8,000 musicians from elementary, middle and junior high school bands and drill teams.
