Moore’s memorial public, televised

Today’s public memorial service for Coeur d’Alene police Sgt. Greg Moore begins at 10 a.m. at Lake City High School, 6101 N. Ramsey Road, Coeur d’Alene. Doors open at 9 a.m.

Public parking will be across the street at United Methodist Church, 1470 W. Hanley Ave. Expect traffic delays on Ramsey and Hanley from early morning to early afternoon.

After the service, a long procession of law enforcement vehicles will accompany Moore’s body to Forest Cemetery near downtown. The procession will take Ramsey Road and Northwest Boulevard south to the Four Corners area at Sherman Avenue, then turn and proceed north on Government Way to Summit Avenue. Parking in the southbound lane of Government Way from Summit to Garden Avenue is not allowed after midnight.

Interment services will be private at the gravesite, open only to family and law enforcement.

The memorial service will be broadcast live on SWX/Spokane and on Coeur d’Alene City Cable Channel 19 from 10 a.m. to noon, and on KHQ from 10 to 11 a.m. The live broadcast will be shown at Lake City Community Church, 6000 N. Ramsey Road; the North Idaho College Student Union Building; and the Coeur d’Alene Public Library community room, 702 E. Front Ave.

Police officers and deputies from several different law enforcement agencies will be patrolling the streets of Coeur d’Alene this morning so Coeur d’Alene officers can attend the funeral.

The other agencies will take over at 6 a.m. today and continue patrolling and responding to calls for 24 hours to allow Coeur d’Alene officers time to grieve, said Lt. Stu Miller of the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office.

The agencies participating include the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, which has been assisting since Moore was shot in the line of duty on Tuesday, as well as the Post Falls Police Department, the Rathdrum Police Department and the Idaho State Police.
