The Dirt: Yoke’s renovating Foothills Drive store

Yoke’s Fresh Market started this past week on a major renovation of its 63,000-square-foot store at 210 E. North Foothills Drive.

Tony Hall, facilities manager for Yoke’s, said the store was built around 1988. With this project, it will receive a full interior and exterior remodel to bring the store up-to-date with Yoke’s current design, he said.

Yost, Mooney & Pugh is the contractor for the job, which has an estimated $2.5 million project value.

The store will remain open during construction that’s expected to wrap up by this fall.

Alcobra Metals building warehouse

Spokane-based Alcobra Metals is building a 21,255-square-foot warehouse at 3811 E. Rowan Ave. to provide additional storage space.

Alcobra will continue to operate from its headquarters, a 17,000-square-foot building at 4510 N. Freya St., but is having a pre-engineered metal structure erected on the Rowan property a few blocks away, said owner Kelly Beechinor.

The company sells specialty metals including brass, copper, bronze, aluminum and titanium to industrial machine shops and fabricators.

Pro Builders of Spokane is the contractor for the $2.1 million warehouse project, based on city of Spokane building information. The new structure is expected to open in about three months to support sales and distribution of the company’s metal products.

“We’re bringing more products in to provide our customers variety,” Beechinor said.
