Administrative changes at CdA

Coeur d’Alene High School is making a change in administrative positions, beginning next fall.

Athletic director Todd Gilkey, 51, in his eighth year, will become a vice principal for discipline while Bryan Duncan, 56, will leave that position to replace Gilkey.

Gilkey has been involved in athletic administration at the state level and has served on the Idaho High School Activities Association board. This winter he received a national award for athletic administration.

“There are personal reasons why I’m switching,” said Gilkey, who served eight years as A.D. at St. Maries High before moving to CdA. “It’s time for a change.”

Duncan said he’s close to retirement and wanted a new challenge.

“I like to make changes in my career,” Duncan said. “It keeps me lively and I don’t want to go stale in one position. It’s a logical switch in my career.”

Duncan just finished his 11th year as the Vikings’ boys golf coach. He said he will continue coaching.
