Youth, emptied trash cans, linked

School is still in session, but that hasn’t stopped a few juveniles from behaving badly in Liberty Lake.

An officer on patrol just before 9:30 p.m. on May 9 noticed five juveniles in Pavillion Park. The officer also noticed that trash had been removed from garbage cans and was strewn around the park, said Police Chief Brian Asmus.

“They cleaned up the mess,” Asmus said. Their parents were called to pick them up after they had finished cleaning.

Asmus said he’s not sure if the same group of teens is responsible for another incident reported the evening of April 27 in the 22000 block of East Country Vista Drive. A resident reported that a group of juveniles was dumping trash cans and climbing on top of the carport. The group was gone by the time officers arrived and they were not located, Asmus said.

Other calls from May 4-11:

May 4: A resident turned in a set of keys found near Malvern Road and Mission Avenue. The owner was located and the keys returned.

May 7: A resident in the 22000 block of Country Vista Drive reported that his car had been vandalized sometime the night before.

May 9: Someone turned in a bag containing a gram of marijuana that was found on the path next to Liberty Lake Road near Trailhead Golf Course. The marijuana was packaged for legal sale.

May 10: A disorderly man was reported in the 19000 block of East Cataldo Avenue. The man, who was reportedly yelling at employees of a business, left when police told him to go.

Arrests: Officers made one arrest for driving under the influence, one on warrants, one for domestic violence assault and one for third-degree malicious mischief (domestic violence).
