Lochte wins, Phelps struggles

U.S. Olympian Ryan Lochte won the men’s 200-meter individual medley during the final day of the Arena Pro Swim Series meet in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Sunday, while rival Michael Phelps failed to make the finals in two events. Lochte, the world record-holder in the 200 IM, won in 1 minute, 57.20 seconds, the third-fastest time in the world this year. Phelps was relegated to the ‘B’ finals in the 200 IM and 100 freestyle after the prelims, but bounced back to win the ‘B’ final in the 200 IM in 2:00.25, which would have put him sixth in the ‘A’ final, then tied for third in the 100 freestyle ‘B’ final.
