Area roundup: Cory Mitchell joins brother Bo Levi with CFL’s Calgary Stampeders

Former Eastern Washington Eagles wide receiver Cory Mitchell will join his brother Bo Levi Mitchell as a member of the Canadian Football League’s Calgary Stampeders after signing a free-agent contract last week.

Cory graduated from high school in 2006 but didn’t start playing for the Eagles until 2010. In four seasons at EWU, he caught 101 passes, scored 10 touchdowns and averaged 17.6 yards per kickoff return.

Bo Levi, the quarterback for the CFL’s defending champions, led the Eagles to the 2010 NCAA Football Championship Subdivision title – a 20-19 win over Delaware in which he threw three TD passes in the final 16:48 for the victory.

Bo Levi was named the MVP of the Grey Cup last season after passing for 334 yards. He has started 18 games for the Stampeders and won 16 of them.
