Four injured after teen drives over tents at The Gorge

Four people were injured this morning when a 19-year-old man from California ran over several tents and hit parked cars at The Gorge campground, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office. The teen, identified as Tanner A. Drayton-Williams of Woodland Hills, drove through several campsites around 9:30 a.m. It originally appeared that two of the victims had received serious injuries, but three of the injured had been released from the Quincy Valley Medical Center by 1:30 p.m. Drayton-Williams was among those treated and released. The remaining person was transferred to Confluence Health-Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee for treatment of multiple broken bones and internal injuries, said Grant County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Kyle Foreman. “Two of the victims that went to the hospital were inside separate tents,” said Foreman. Several other people received minor injuries but refused treatment, Foreman said. The driver was apparently attending the Sasquatch Music Festival being held at The Gorge this weekend. “He was camping out there with other people who came to the concerts,” said Foreman. Drayton-Williams was booked into the Grant County Jail and is facing four charges of second-degree assault. Evidence suggests that he was “impaired” and more charges are likely, Foreman said. Deputies have not had any other issues so far with the crowd attending the popular music festival, Foreman said. “Most of the people who come to the Gorge are respectful and don’t cause problems,” he said.
