Wright article fans flames

It never ceases to amaze me when we look back on history and judge the past with the eyes of today. The Col. George Wright brouhaha (May 17) is an example. It’s always easy to say what one would have done 100 or more years later.

I’m sure the critics will tear this letter apart and say it’s never OK to kill and annihilate a people. But then we could discuss whether the bombing of Hiroshima saved more lives in the end or not. If there has to be a war, should we fight a real war so more lives are saved, or engage in a war where no one wins and it drags on for years?

There is a divisive group of people who want to stir up racial and ethnic hatred right before elections. It seems to work every time. Divide and conquer and no one wins. So who really kills more people, history or the people who divide this country by fanning the flames of bigotry over and over and over again? Don’t fall for it this time folks.
