Spokane Poetry Slam - Spokane Poetry Slam is competitive performance poetry. Poets have three minutes to present their original work without costumes, props or musical accompaniment. Audience judges chosen at random score the poem and the highest cumulative score after two rounds of poetry wins the $50 grand prize. Authors the Venerable Thubten Chodron and Russell Kolts - Reading, discussion and signing of “An Open-Hearted Life.” Kolts is a clinical psychologist and professor, and Chodron is the founder of Sravasti Abbey. “Magnificent Journey: - A Geologic River Trip with Lewis and Clark through the Missouri River Breaks of Montana,” slide show by Otto Schumacher based on his and Lee Woodward’s book of the same title. The geology and landforms of the Missouri River Breaks will be described as they relate to the colorful history of this spectacular river system, from the Lewis and Clark expedition to the mountain steamboat era and modern day usage of the river. “Clarkston” - Join Moscow Art Theatre (Too) and the Kenworthy for a staged reading of “Clarkston,” a new play by Samuel D. Hunter. Hunter is a Moscow, Idaho, native and 2014 MacArthur Foundation Fellow. The play is a story about two young men struggling to find their way into an uncertain future.
