Motorcycle rider ran red light before collision with STA bus, police say

A motorcycle rider killed in a collision with an STA bus on Friday ran a red light shortly before the accident, Spokane Police say. The rider, whose identity hasn’t been released, “failed to stop for the steady red signal at North Foothills/Crestline,” according to a news release. Police investigators viewed video from the STA bus, which was eastbound on North Foothills Drive and was turning left onto northbound Crestline. The motorcycle rider was headed westbound on North Foothills and “it appears the motorcyclist was still east of the intersection and stop line when the light turned red.” The news release also showed the STA bus entered the intersection on a yellow light, it said. There is a turn lane but no turn signal at that intersection.
