Obituary: Myers, Violet Marie

Age 89

MYERS, Violet Marie (Age 89) Our wonderful Mom, Violet Marie Myers, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2015, at Agrace HospiceCare, in the arms of her son and daughter, and surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born in Madison on December 26, 1925, the middle of five children born to August and Mabel Grunert.

Vi was left alone to raise her first child, Francis ‘Cliff’ Clifton on the east side of Madison until she met the love of her life, Warren H. Myers.

They married on August 15, 1953, when Vi also became ‘Mom’ to Warren’s two sons, followed by four children born of their union.

Vi was employed at Rayovac for over 30 years, retiring in 1992.

She was proud to be a member of the 25 Year Club.

Vi enjoyed gardening, dining out, playing cards and games with her family, and casino junkets.

Above all, Vi loved and cherished her family.

She was the very best, most loving Mother we could ever ask for.

Her love and guidance will never be forgotten.

Carrying on her legacy of love are her children, Dick (Sheila) Myers and Tom Myers, both of Spokane, WA; Glenn (Carla) Myers of Waunakee; Nancy (Mike) White of Sun Prairie; Pastor Steve (Shari) Myers of Manhattan, KS and Suzi (Shawn) Shaub of Madison, along with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her brother, Dick Grunert and many nieces and nephews.

She was greeted in Heaven by her parents, her husband, Warren H. Myers; her son, Cliff; her granddaughter, Julie; her sisters, Shirley Hanevold, Lorraine Allen; her brother, Bob Grunert and her life-long friend, Delores Stauffacher.

Funeral service was held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, WI, on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at 11:00 am.

Visitation was at the funeral home from 9:00 am until the time of service.

Private family interment at Highland Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to Agrace HospiceCare would be appreciated.

The family wishes to thank Mom’s hospice team, Nicole, Carmen, Megan, and especially her Angel on Earth, April, whose loving care during her final journey allowed her to remain safe and comfortable in her own home.
