Obituary: Anzalone, Mira Inez

Age 83

ANZALONE, Mira Inez September 07, 1931 - May 25, 2015 Mira was born to Domenico and Antonietta Dalla Costa who emigrated from Italy and settled with their three children in Clayton, WA.

Mira attended grade school in Clayton and graduated from Mary Cliff HS in June of 1949.

After graduation Mira went to work at PNW Bell as an operator.

After 39 years of respected service Mira retired from her management position at US West Communications.

During retirement, Mira went to work for USPS as a mail carrier, volunteered with various organizations including Bloomsday and the Red Cross with which she traveled as needed, domestically and internationally.

Mira also began a running career and became an avid, competitive participant in Bloomsday, local fun runs, marathons and 1/2 marathons all over the US, often winning in her age bracket.

She was also a huge Hoopfest supporter, bringing coolers full of ice cold water, cool towels and energy snacks for her grandkids and their team mates.

Mira is preceded in death by her mother, father, brothers; Teno and Bruno, husband of 61 years Joseph and their son Joseph Jr. Mira is survived by her sons; Steve, wife Leah, Mike, wife Leann and daughter Willow Moon.

Nine grandchildren: Erin Jordan, Giamo Anzalone, Lacy McNair, Maggie Simchuck, Aaron Anzalone, Sarah Conley, Kyle Anzalone, Nick Anzalone, and Juniper Anzalone.

Ten great-grandchildren: Veronica Jordan, TJ McNair, Maya and Alex Simchuck, Grace, Lilya and Bailey Anzalone, Aaron Anzalone, Cedar and Rowan Anzalone.

Mira was the family Matriarch; a strong, kind, active, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and mentor who will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

A visitation will be held Sunday, May 31, from 10:00 am until 7:00 pm followed by a Rosary at Hennessey Smith Funeral Home, 2203 N. Division.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 1st, 2015 at 10:00 am at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 5021 N. Nelson.
