Thanks for humane legislation

The article written by Jim Camden in The Spokesman-Review, May 12, says Sen. Joe Fain sponsored a long-needed law against animal cruelty. Then Gov. Jay Inslee signed it into law. This law gives police and other authorities the ability to break into cars to rescue animals in distress and danger from the heat. It also states the animals’ owner can be given a $125 ticket and, in extreme cases, face animal cruelty charges.

This law covers animals found in other dangerous areas or enclosures, giving officials the authority to remove the animal. The law also expands the law against animal fighting, killing or stealing someone’s pets.

I thank both Fain and Inslee for finally caring enough to give these precious animals a voice. Every state in America needs to pass laws like this and enforce it to the max. Our animals deserve better.

Lastly, research shows that serial killers and abusers usually start by abusing animals. Therefore, animal abuse and cruelty is totally unacceptable.
