Tigers’ Brittan, doubles duo in semifinals

Lewis and Clark’s Luke Brittan won both of his matches Friday to advance to the semifinals of the State 4A tennis tournament at Columbia Basin Racquet Club and Richland High School.

Brittan beat Kamiak’s Jimmy Hua 6-2, 6-3 in the first round and Wenatchee’s Jack Yount 6-3, 7-6 in the quarterfinals.

He’ll face Olympia’s Ryan Adams today in the semifinals.

The Tigers’ boys doubles duo of Kyle Fager and Jordan Strandness also advanced to the semifinals. They’ll face Newport’s Payton Namba and Travis Kayahara today.

Shadle Park’s Audra Spargo was eliminated after losing both of her matches at the 3A tournament at Kamiakin HS and Tri City Court Club.

2A

Pullman’s doubles duo of Jacob Weirich and Curtis Jeffrey are still alive at the Nordstrom Tennis Center in Seattle. Weirich and Jeffrey lost their first-round match, but beat Tumwater’s Devin Reich and Cole Holbrook 6-1, 6-3 in a consolation elimination match.

They’ll face North Kitsap’s Nate McCown and Joe Creason today.

1A/2B/1B

Lakeside’s boys doubles duo of Seth Abrams and Brady Smith advanced to the semis in Yakima.

Abrams and Smith will face Charles Wright’s Dylan Sam and Tyler Sam today.

For the girls, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague’s Rosie Melville made the singles semifinals, and will face Cascade’s Taylor Kelly today.
